Another great example of the power of using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) in combination with micropillar compression.

This new paper from the University of Cambridge shows how the Alemnis Standard Assembly (ASA) is used to test cuboidal pillars which have a Pt speckled pattern applied for strain mapping. This approach can be used for advanced interpretation of the compression data to increase the precision of critical resolved shear stress extraction.
